Jazz songstress “pretty, perky Peggy King” is one of the few, certifiable legends of the stage, screen, television and nightclubs still among us, having worked with everyone from Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis to Andre Previn and Harry James. “Remarkably,” says Jazz Times, “her intonation, interpretive powers, subtle sense of swing and range are in many ways better than they were in 1955.”

Now Peggy King returns to Feinstein’s/54 Below, to celebrate the release of her new album: “Peggy King and The All-Star Jazz Trio: Songs ala King”. Her first new recording in 36 years, the CD features 18 memorable tracks from the Great American Songbook, which she and the All-Star Jazz Trio will regale audiences with live.

For more than four decades, the hard-driving All-Star Jazz Trio—pianist Andy Kahn, drummer Bruce Klauber and bassist Bruce Kamsinky—have been known, instrumentally and vocally, for their charismatic brand of swing and showmanship. “They know how to pull the audience in to the experience,” writes Jazz Times. The legendary Peggy King joins The All-Stars for her star turn, singing songs from the Great American Songbook and telling of her close personal relationships with many of the Songbook composers, and of her singular career in show business.
