“Kate Ferber seems to have absorbed Nyro’s style so thoroughly that she can exude it not as imitation so much as reincarnation.” – Culture Catch
Amid the popular wave of jukebox musicals, from Beautiful to Motown to Jersey Boys, a crucial voice from America’s golden era of songwriting is missing from the stage: Laura Nyro. In this one-night-only, solo concert event, Kate Ferber sets the record straight. Nyro is an unsung heroine of popular song, cited as a major inspiration by Joni Mitchell, Elton John and many other legendary musicians. Come discover Nyro’s soulful, soaring masterpieces, interpreted by a thrilling, emerging voice from a new generation of artists.
Kate Ferber starred in Ghost Brothers of Darkland County (John Mellencamp/Stephen King/T Bone Burnett) both on tour and at the Alliance Theatre, and in her original one-woman show, One Child Born: The Music of Laura Nyro (co-written with Louis Greenstein, Dir. Adrienne Campbell Holt). More recently, she toured the US and Canada with Atlantic Records artist Max Frost. Watch for the release date for her forthcoming EP and upcoming shows at KateFerber.com.
