Composer/lyricist Scott Evan Davis makes his debut at 54 Below with a concert of new material as well as songs from his album Cautiously Optimistic. After having his show Picture Perfect performed in New York, LA, London and Australia, he returns to the concert setting for the first time in over two years, to tell intimate stories of how certain songs came to be, as well showcase material from his new musical Indigo.
“When it comes to contemporary songwriting, the obstreperously sizable squad who complain that ‘they don’t write ’em like they used to’ have got it seriously wrong. The bracing truth is that they do write ’em very much as the outstanding pop songwriters of the mid-20th century used to…. Prominent among them are Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk, Lance Horne, Sam Davis, Michael Patrick Walker, Scott Evan Davis, Georgia Stitt.” – David Finkle, The Huffington Post
“Songwriter Davis has an ear for the classical in his melodies and one for the edginess of contemporary in his lyrics. These two seemingly contradictory aspects collide with remarkable ease…..” -Andy Probst, Theatermania
With Scott at the piano, accompanied by the cellist James Clark and some of New York’s finest voices, including Derek Klena, Karen Mason, Lisa Howard, Natalie Douglas, Julie Reyburn, Sierra Rein, Erik Sisco, Vicky Modica, Joshua Dixon, Kim Grogg, Jamie Hartmann, David Harris, Remy Zaken, Leigh Barrett and more, Scott Evan Davis will celebrate his 37th birthday as he explores love, loss, relationships and patterns, and ultimately, acceptance within his songs.
